Wednesday, November 12, 2008 ~ New moves

It's been a LONG while since I've updated this old blog and many things have happened. 1st, finished my work at Aedas, which I enjoyed very much! Sad that my contract couldnt be renewed due to circumstances beyond my control. In the mean time I've been busy working or actually finished my applications! Now all that's left is to wait for the results and wait for new work to come in...

Really happy that I'm finally going for a mission trip next week! Waited 10 years and now I can finally go! :) Really looking forward to it, though I'm placed in a team where I don't know most of the youth.. still, excited and rearing to go! Gonna anchor 1 of the teaching sessions so have to prepare!(hai.. it was that or take one of the night meetings- which is way harder?)

On the home front, Senator Obama was elected president! On one hand, I'm sad that Mccain/Palin didn't get in, but on the other hand, I'm proud that we voted in the 1st African-American President! I will do my best to support him even though I do not agree with what he stands for. However this doesn't mean that I'm about to concede the stands and views that I believe in. If anything it's gonna be gearing up for a hard fight with large Democrat majorities in Congress & in the White House. He's promised change, but what kind of change? That seems to be the part that he's short on, and I'm suprised that many people I know are so supportive of him to the point of not questioning what change he's gonna bring! How will he turn out? I have no idea, will wait for him to officially take over before I make any judgement.

Now people have been asking PM Lee if such a thing will happen in Singapore? A minority PM? hmmm.. they seem to have forgotten David Marshal, the 1st Chief Minister! He was a Jew and was voted in by the people? So it IS possible! Somehow I think Obama is the kind of opposition politicition that the PAP won't like to face.

A lesson learnt to my fellow voters, NEVER base your support for a man just because of his ability to speak or project himself. And, never underestimate the power of youth!

Speaking of the future... Palin/Jindal 2012? :p
